Haven’t you heard that wonderful surprises come in small packages? Making an early entrance into the world at just under 5 lbs. he has definitely won the hearts of everyone in his family (except for the cat – hehe). He is absolute sweetness and I am excited to share this peek from his session today. His room his woodland themed and so adorable that I had to incorporate it.

Once you devour your first Bella Bella Cupcake, you’ll find yourself coming up with a list of excuses to have another. With over 40 flavors of cupcakes, I dare you to pick a favorite. The most popular are Irish Kiss, Lemon Raspberry, Bella Red Velvet and Mocha Java…but how can you resist Tiramisu or Margarita? Thats right, you can’t – nor should you! Made from scratch with fresh local ingredients Bella Bella Cupcakes are a perfect choice for your wedding.

Although cupcakes are good for any occasion or even no occasion at all, they can be a great spin on the traditional wedding cake. An average cupcake budget for your wedding is usually between $250 and $400 and the options are endless. Bella Bella Cupcake flavors are first come first serve so even though they’ve made some last minute wedding day miracles happen I’d make sure to secure your sweet treats early on…they are already booking for next Summer! A wedding consult with them includes a cupcake tasting as you go over the details from flavors to display tiers and fabrics. They can even be finished with a signature Bella Bella tiffany blue white chocolate star.

So how did Bella Bella Cupcakes start anyway? Friends for over 10 years, Donna and Amie are more like family to one other. They support each other in every endeavor. Amie’s Martha Stewart magazine obsession got the better of them and they jumped in with both feet (and all 9 kids) into the cupcake business in 2009. While Amie’s favorite is Cherry Limeade, Donna is a total binger and couldn’t choose just one…rattling off a list that made my mouth water. Fortunately they made me a special batch of mini cupcakes to take home (which you can drool over at the end of this post). One of their clients said that what makes Bella Bella Cupcakes stand out is that its an absolute experience. That is exactly right. Find out for yourself just why and try one…or two…or a dozen :)

Now check out the yumminess…I’ve decided to call this set of tiny cupcake photos a “Mini-Series”

For several years we’ve been collecting work from the Glass Eye Studio here in Washington. Each is its own one-of-a-kind piece of glass art. The pieces we’ve collected over the years have a celestial theme which reflects my husbands interest in astronomy. All of their glass contains Mt. St. Helens ash, and since I was born just days after the eruption in 1980, that detail just makes them extra special to me. I haven’t had any time “for me” so I took a brief time-out the other day and worked on this personal project. I wanted to try figure out a way to capture the vivid colors and unique detail in each of the spheres  so that I may share them here with you. It took a bit of trial and error, but I finally achieved the effect I was after.

An evening session at the waterfront with a bit of vintage processing…how can you not love that? It was great to catch up with a familiar face, thank you so much for asking me to do some portraits of you. You have been a busy gal this summer, from collecting vintage cameras to taking sailing lessons, it was fun incorporating both into your session. The eyes…the freckles…so beautiful!

Ok, I just can’t help myself from doing a bit more vivid color and contrast. How could I not with those amazing hues??

I had the hardest time narrowing down my favorites…she was such a good sport as we tried so many different things. The walking was worth it for these beautiful shots, I just love how they make her glow with light. Though the ones with a simple black background and classic composed portrait is dramatic and elegant…I can’t resist making those my favorites too. Ashlen, you look perfect! ;)

I couldn’t contain my excitement when I realized Add to Heart was mentioned in the August issue of Rangefinder. Its a very surreal experience to know that something you’ve put your heart into will be seen by hundreds, or even thousands of complete strangers. The article by Steve Tout discusses design, marketing and photography. I am very attached to the points mentioned in the article because of my experience as a designer, having to always embrace change and use it to my advantage. You can find the article by clicking here
