Just one for now of this four day old cutie. Since he was so squishy sweet I had planned some of him “au natural”, however he was only content when I swaddled him tightly. Such an adorable little bean (a nickname his mom gave him) which I’ll have plenty more to share soon.

Wedding Vendors + Off the Rack Bridal Shoppe

I was so excited to see a new bridal boutique open up in Old Town Silverdale that I knew I wanted to feature their store on my blog. Off the Rack Bridal Shoppe is a family-owned, socially responsible shop providing a boutique style experience in an affordable way. They really take the saying “Something old…something new…” to heart. From repurposing furniture and decor to offering new and pre-owned gowns (ranging from size 6 to 26), their green concept bridal shoppe is something to be inspired by.

Working primarily by appointment, Off the Rack will actually reserve the entire shoppe just for the bride for a complete one-on-one gown shopping experience. The average budget for a bridal gown is $500-$700, however they have a great selection of gowns ranging from $200 simple destination dresses to $2700 couture gowns. They also offer consignment with an amazingly low consignment fee and a great incentive for brides that buy a gown from them and then consign it after they’ve worn it.

Whenever co-owner Mary is asked, “How will I know if a gown is the right one?” she answers…”You will just know.” If she doesn’t have the dress of your dreams at the shoppe, she will do everything she can to track it down. They carry a wide variety of designers…Emerald Bridal, Maggie Sottero, Kirstie Kelly for Disney, Alfred Angelo, just to drop a few names. The best part? Haven’t you heard that wonderful surprises come in small packages? Making an early debut into the world at just under 5 lbs. he has definitely won the hearts of everyone in his family (except for the cat – hehe). He is absolute sweetness and I am excited to share this peek from his session today. His room his woodland themed and so adorable that I had to incorporate it.

Personal Project + Celestial Spheres

For several years we’ve been collecting work from the Glass Eye Studio here in Washington. Each is its own one-of-a-kind piece of glass art. The pieces we’ve collected over the years have a celestial theme which reflects my husbands interest in astronomy. All of their glass contains Mt. St. Helens ash, and since I was born just days after the eruption in 1980, that detail just makes them extra special to me. I haven’t had any time “for me” so I took a brief time-out the other day and worked on this personal project. I wanted to try figure out a way to capture the vivid colors and unique detail in each of the spheres so that I may share them here with you. It took a bit of trial and error, but I finally achieved the effect I was after.

Kingston Portrait Session + Favorites

An evening session at the waterfront with a bit of vintage processing…how can you not love that? It was great to catch up with a familiar face, thank you so much for asking me to do some portraits of you. You have been a busy gal this summer, from collecting vintage cameras to taking sailing lessons, it was fun incorporating both into your session. The eyes…the freckles…so beautiful!

Ok, I just can’t help myself from doing a bit more vivid color and contrast. How could I not with those amazing hues??

Maternity Session + Favorites

I had the hardest time narrowing down my favorites…she was such a good sport as we tried so many different things. The walking was worth it for these beautiful shots, I just love how they make her glow with light. Though the ones with a simple black background and classic composed portrait is dramatic and elegant…I can’t resist making those my favorites too. Ashlen, you look perfect!
