How lucky I feel to have one wonderful couple after another ask me to photograph their wedding day. When I first met Kayla and Josh I could tell they had a great history together…they are high school sweethearts and have created a connection with each other that will certainly last a lifetime.
I have become quite familiar with Kitsap Memorial State Park and I always find a great new spot, along with a few favorites, to photograph at. It’s just the cutest place to have a wedding and these photos are the proof. Kayla & Josh’s style is classic with a modern twist and can I just say that I’m loving how the couple infused all sorts of great details into their day. For instance, have you ever seen orchids, branches with tealights and cute little figurine snails go together so well before? I didn’t think so. It was elegant, it was eclectic, it was so very…them. Kayla is a beautiful bride and Josh is a genuine kind of guy. There is a sweetness towards one another that only a couple that have “grown up” together have. You could certainly tell that in the sneak peek I posted that night. They chose to do a first look with most photos before the ceremony, which always works out the best because we have more time for the wedding party and bride & groom portraits. Since the tide was out we walked down to the beachfront area, the cloudy skies made the light soft and beautiful. As guests began to arrive we went further into the wooded area for more shots of just the couple, the sun peeked out for just a few minutes and then it was time for touch-ups and on to the ceremony.
The ceremony was held under a beautiful wood pavilion nestled amongst the tall trees of the park. It was officiated by the couples good friend (who also happened to be one of the bridesmaid’s fiancé). The reception was in the cozy log building on site. The delicious food for everyone to enjoy was by BJ’s Catering and a personal favorite, cupcakes and cutting cake by Bella Bella Cupcakes. Gorgeous flower arrangements were created by a close family friend and were a swoon-worthy combination of green orchids, poms and purple calla lillies. Although it was October and cloudy, for most of the day we saw no rain and even a few (brief) moments of sunshine. All-in-all, it was an unforgettable day. Kayla & Josh, I wish you the absolute best that life has to offer
