The winters in the Northwest are usually dark and gray but on occasion we do see some clear skies and sunshine. Its still quite chilly but you wouldn’t know it with the warmth and beauty this senior (an exchange student from Germany) exudes in these.
Today was a beautiful sunny day out and even though quite chilly, I really wanted to make the most of it. I was fortunate enough to run into a friend and her student from Germany who has an interest in photography. When someone says they are not photogenic I feel challenged to prove them wrong, I’m so glad we had this impromptu session today!
I’m definitely up for finding out how many outfits and locations we can pack into one session. We were up to three outfits and four different locations before the end and I probably could have talked her into another but I knew positively that we had such a great set already. Here is Breanna, also class of 2010…I just love her style! The rain stopped for maybe 5 minutes, long enough to snap a couple near a tree, but the rest were under cover so we didn’t get too soaked. She just seemed to radiate beauty and confidence in every photo.
Here are some of my favorites of Kayla, class of 2010. I love both the color and black & whites of her…she had such a gorgeous complexion and sparkly big brown eyes. Very easy going and super sweet, and even though I didn’t get much time with her I think we got a few beautiful shots!
Nina, class of 2010, was a natural in front of the camera. Full of great energy and flashing her beautiful smile, we had a good time and some good laughs. It was pouring rain, but we decide to head out anyway and try to get a few shots in. This was a senior friends shoot, which was a lot of fun with all three girls and another photographer…let me know if you might be interested in this kind of senior session.
Today I attended a class along with some other local photographers in Port Angeles, Washington held by Ernst. While I had a lot of fun, I learned some great tips about lighting, posing seniors, marketing and photography that made me think of “my” photography in a different way. We had an indoor lighting/posing session and then took it outdoors (YAY natural light – my favorite!). I saw this one interesting brick wall and asked Ernst about how to pose someone if they were on it, he was happy to indulge my curiosity and try it out…of course that was my favorite shot I was able to get. Another was after he had posed her sitting at a nearby coffee shop and I just loved the softness of her hands, her subtle smile and her eyes were just amazing. Thank you so much Ernst!
