An introduction from a mutual friend sparked something extraordinary between these two. After spending more and more time together, they knew they had something special….he asked for permission and proposed. So as Chad was away fishing in Alaska, Renee started making plans with her parents for the September wedding.

Even though the forecast for their wedding day was 100% chance of rain, there were blue skies as I arrived at the Chapel on Echo Bay on Fox Island. As the girls were getting ready I had a chance to take some detail photos and then caught a few of the groom getting ready also. Once the bride was ready for her dress, her mom and best friend helped lace her up. Add a veil and a bouquet of vivid red roses and purple orchids…voila! a gorgeous bride. We did a “first look” which I love because of the anticipation, the expressions, and the moment for them to just enjoy each other on their wedding day. We quickly wrapped up formal photos as it began to rain…then it started to pour as the ceremony began. A string trio played as everyone walked down the aisle and then after a beautiful ceremony the rain stopped and we saw blue skies again…they walked out of the chapel to a sea of bubbles. A vintage Jaguar (complete with chauffeur) drove them to the reception in style. I even caught an in-car kiss and a wave as they drove away. The reception was at the Westley Inn in Gig Harbor and we took some more portraits of the bride and groom on the balcony and wood swing surrounded by ivy. The tables had red and purple flowers and favors, white fabric covered chairs with beautiful purple and red sashes and rhinestone clips. Their classic white cake with a few fresh flowers was simple and stunning. Surrounded by friends and family, they watched a slideshow of photos, danced and really just enjoyed every minute of their special day.

Such a beautiful sunny afternoon on the Silverdale waterfront overlooking Dyes Inlet. As I arrived, the bride was adding finishing touches to make sure everything was just perfect. The tables were dressed with classic white hydrangea, roses and pencil starfish with pink accents. The palette of pink and white was brought right into the attire with the bridesmaids in pink JCrew dresses and wearing simple starfish necklaces. The bride’s gown from Pearls & Lace in Burien was gorgeous, it looked like ripples of water…her hair adorned with a single stargazer lily…so beautiful. During the ceremony they poured colored sand to symbolize their unity…a meaningful piece of art to remind them of their families blending together. After a little food and wine it was time for the first dance and then on to speeches and their amazing applique cake by Lori Coulter which was a modern twist on a classic, white with sea-inspired decorations. It was such a great day, filled with fun and in between filled with tranquil moments shared between family and friends.

A chance meeting walking out of a pub and four years later they were walking down the aisle. I have to say this couple really knows how to have fun…now its on to Mardi Gras and married life. :)
